Ford vs Mercedes

Both of these commercial vehicles are brilliant but which one is the best?

There are plenty of commercial vehicles out there, built by world famous auto manufacturers. All of them do their best to acquire as much share of the commercial market segment as possible.

They provide cargo space, ease of access, comfort, power especially with diesel engines and manual and automatic gearboxes.

How’s the Ford Transit?

Ford has nothing to worry about. It is rightfully called the king of the commercial van segment, and the Ford Transit V6 twin-turbo diesel engine is best among others.

The 3.2-litre inline-five produces enormous power and torque that gives other auto manufacturers run for their money. The fuel economy it returns is also splendid, almost 22 mpg (mostly on highways), and the acceleration time is also among quickest ones.

Ford Transit Styling?

The interstellar cargo shuttle Ford Transit styling is the favourite of many, and it’s not just the styling, the handling and the ride quality is also supreme.

It also has the edge of immunity to side winds, easy step-in height, big-car demeanour and strong brakes over its competitors.

What about the Sprinter 2500 BlueTec?

The Sprinter was the introduction of European vans to America and in 2001, it was the first one to be badged as a freightliner.

In 2003, it was badged as Dodge and then in 2009, as Mercedes. After its introduction, it instantly became one of the excellent vehicles and stays the same.

What’s the engine for Sprinter?

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is powered by a 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine which produces more than enough power and torque to make it a strong competitor to the Ford Transit.

This engine is backed up by seven speed automatic gearbox with smooth shifting ability and thus takes 11.4 seconds for a sprint to 60 mph from a standstill. The top speed for the Sprinter is set to 83 mph which is lower than others.

How it drives like?

It drives absolutely fine. Unlike others, it doesn’t let its driver stand up while driving. Of course the driving position is high but still, the steering wheel is within easy reach and offers comfortable drive.
