Ford Transit is Still the Golden Egg for Thieves

Ford Van

Transit commercial van celebrates 50th anniversary this year and it is still the favorite of thieves

Ford Transit is the highly praised light commercial vehicle in UK since its launch about a half century ago, on August 9, 1965. Ford has sold almost 8 million Transit models since the first vehicle left the production line in Langley, England. It has grown from a single model to an entire family in these 50 years and known as the iconic mobility vehicle for UK’s handymen.

To celebrate the 50 years of success, Ford has launched the Golden convoy of Transit vans, consists of one member from each class. Iconic van convoy has departed the CV Show to visit the dealerships, shows and events until the August 8/9.

After this great celebration, next news is bit harsh to absorb for the owners of Ford Transits. Since couple of months, Ford Transit has faced the highest theft rate in the history of Transit in UK. Police departments from several areas, has issued a warning for the Transit owners to keep their vans safe as police found the Transit a golden egg for the thieves.

Police has also stated that more than £11,000 worth power tools were stolen from the Transit vans in Stafford only. However, over £2k worth power tools stolen in another theft crime, it was again an unfortunate break-in of Transit van.  Police said that the thieves are the same group who broke the Transit with £11,000 worth tools and asked the owners to be extra watchful when parking their vehicles on the road side parking. Most theft incidents were happen in Norfolk Way, Thorley Park Road, Hazel End Road, Thornbera Road, and London Road that effected the tradesmen of the area.

In several other vehicle crimes, a black Ford was damaged by a crook, he threw a brick on the roof of the vehicle, parked in Castle Street on Friday. Meanwhile a Fiat Punto in The Thatchers left with a smashed wind screen on Saturday between 8pm to next day 7am.

It is very important for the community to lend a helping hand for the arrest of these crooks. If anyone has any kind of information or any doubts regarding these crooks, just call the Police on 101 or 0800 500 111 for crime stoppers. Help the police to stay safe in your area or your vehicle could be the next Golden Egg for these crooks.
