Ford Transit is the best light commercial van available in the UK, it always has sold in high numbers and when it comes to the latest model, the sixth generation, it is the best yet. Major factor is the load-carrying capabilities and this one has exclusively superseded all of its competitors. Its run on the road is impressively refined thanks to the newly built Ford Transit engine, running cost is also much less.

 

As the needs are changing drastically, Ford has taken timely decision and diversified Transit’s model range and now offered in four different models, head of this family would be the new two-tonne beauty, other members include: Transit Custom offered in one-tonne, a more compact Transit Connect and Transit Courier which will be offered in smaller body in 2015.

 

A 2.2 litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine is powering the new Ford Transit family, the power outputs offered are 99 hp, 123 hp or 153 hp, backed by a six-speed manual gearbox. It is hoped that both, the front-wheel and the rear wheel drive models will enjoy an equal share in sales.

 

The exterior is undoubtedly made beautiful but the interior is also matchless, it is more car-like and you surely would not find stuff like this in any other commercial van.  The steering wheel is adjusted in such a way that it always feels so comfortable behind the wheel regardless of the size and the height of the driver, reach is also revised along with the angle of the steering. The cabin is capacious and offers more head and legroom than its predecessor.

 

The Electronic Stability Control system encompasses Curve Control, capable of braking certain wheels if it sense van is entering into a curve too quickly. A Trailer Sway Control is also helping control the trailer that goes into a swaying motion.
