This most popular light commercial van now gets a 3.2 litre turbo diesel I-5 engine which is more fuel efficient

Ford has announced that the 2014 Ford Transit is going to get a more fuel efficient 3.2 litre I-5 turbo diesel engine under its bonnet. It is claimed that this engine will produce a total output of 197 hp and the peak torque will be 347 lb-ft. It is said that 90 percent of the torque will be available between 1,700 rpm and 3,500 rpm, and this powerful Ford engine is going to be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, sending the power to rear wheel drive.

It is strongly believed that the combined economy will be 20 mpg, although the EPA fuel economy figures are still to be announced. The most wonderful and amazing feature that this new 2014 Ford Transit engine has is the quick start glow plugs, especially fitted to help start-ups in the areas where temperature stays below freezing point.

It is said that this new I-5 turbo diesel engine is going to join the existing twin-turbo V6 petrol and 3.5-litre EcoBoost diesel units. So whatever version you choose, you are rest assured that each of them serves you with utmost efficiency and with greater economical value.
