The practicality and economy of Ford Transit is above reproach and now the Ford Sollers plant in Elabuga will be the home for next generation of Transit Commercial Van in Russia.

In Russia, Ford’s Sollers plant started building the Transit Van back in 2012 and has been doing it ever since, its plant in Elabuga is now destined to be the place where the next generation of Ford Transit will be built and hopefully be put on sale later this year. In the commercial vehicles segment, the popularity and ever increasing demand of Transit is above reproach. Ford Transit 2.2-litre engines offer such economy and cheapest running cost that no other competitor can possibly offer.

When it was first introduced in the Europe back in 1965, no one knew it would sell over 7 million vehicles worldwide. To build the new Transit in the US, Ford employed more than 1,000 highly skilled professionals, and invested £0.59 billion in retooling its Kansas City plant.

These vans will be coming in a variety of choices like a number of engine powers, two roof heights and three lengths to meet your day to day needs. As the Russian market is way different from the European or American. Ford is going to offer its 2.2-litre diesel engine in three different outputs, a 125 hp, a 135 bhp and a 155 horsepower and it is all about flexibility.

All of these Transit vans will be housing six-speed manual transmission as standard, but the choices are available in Front-wheel, Rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. Three body styles – van, chassis cab and bus – are offered. It is claimed that the new generation Transit is 11% more spacious than the outgoing model and offers higher fuel economy.
